The City of Athens!

Where to begin? Lets start with things you need to know...

You can survive a ten hour plane flight to Amsterdam, have a three hour layover, have another four hour plane ride, get on a bus, unpack, and take an incredibly long walk around the city all with a smile on your face.

The city is beautiful and the people are very kind and friendly. The men are especially friendly and will go out of their way to make smoochyish noises at you when you pass. Very welcoming indeed.

When you walk down the street, instead of seeing maple or alder trees lining the sidewalk, you will find orange trees. Yes, believe it.
You can also see pidgins in this photo and that is because there are pidgins everywhere. Some people are not partial to pidgins, but that's probably because you haven't met the pidgins in Athens. Each one is a different color and with different markings and like to walk along side you as you explore the city; how sweet!

My housemates will be happy to know that not only am I 'man of the house' but I have been given the position 'man of the apartment' and title of the Greek Bug Assassin. This position entails inspecting everything that may or may not look disgusting and kill bugs around the apartment. There haven't been many, but unfortunately the last bug, roughly the size of my thumb, escaped through a hole in the wall. I stuffed it with toilet paper, that should hold it for now...

As for our adventure this morning, Christine and I began with sleeping in. Then we moved to walking to the Acropolis. Unfortunately, because of a strike, we couldn't get inside the gate, but we still had an enjoyable day. I think the highlight of the trip was climbing a large rock and seeing the entire city. It was breathtaking, and fun fact, its where the Apostle Paul spoke.

Christine and I ended our venture by meeting nice students from NYU, accidentally walking through people's back yards and have a delicious lunch at a quaint cafe. Class was intriguing, dinner was fantastic, so thank you Athens. I think I'll stay here for a month.
